Judging process

The shortlist and winners of the Motor Transport Awards are chosen by experts drawn from the industry. Each category is judged by its own panel normally comprising of around four people selected from the industry for their expertise, and also a representative of the category sponsor. A representative of Motor Transport chairs each meeting but does not vote unless there is a tie. Some panels, however, can be much larger; the Fleet Truck of the Year panel comprises of more than 25 people.

Entries are thoroughly read and discussed and judges fill in a form giving their first, second and third choice before a winner is chosen.

The judges are chosen because they know the difference between what is common in the industry and what is truly outstanding and deserves to be rewarded.
