We are looking for an innovative project that used technology to enhance your service and resulted in a clear benefit to your customers. This is not about just using industry-standard software, but looking at customers’ needs and developing a technology-based solution. The judges will want to know how it is innovative and the specific outcomes for your operation and your customer’s business.

Customer Care Award

Customer care is more than just delivering the goods – it’s going out of your way to ensure that your operation consistently exceeds your customers’ expectations. You need to tell us how you monitor your levels of customer service, how you deal with that information and how you have gone above and beyond to delight your clients. We want to see commitment from all levels of the company and, of course, testimonials from customers and the results of your customer care surveys.

Dealer of the Year

The winner will need to show high levels of customer satisfaction across all the departments of the dealership, including the workshop, as well as proving financial success. The judges will also want to see evidence of innovation and strong sales of both new and used vehicles.
You must provide audited accounts for the past three years and customer testimonials to support your entry. The judges will also consider dealerships that have turned-around the business and greatly improved their service to customers and their profits.

Environment Award

Being green is increasingly important for all truck and van operators and this Award will recognise those companies that have taken the green challenge seriously. We want to see companies that have evaluated in detail all aspects of their operation to identify ways in which they can reduce their environmental impact. The judges will be looking for a range of projects involving all parts of the business designed to make your company environmentally friendly.

Fleet Engineer of the Year

To become Fleet Engineer of the Year, you need to show not only exceptionally high professional standards, but also evidence of innovation to improve the running of your fleet. High standards could be shown through low accident rates or high levels of first time MOT passes. Innovation could involve reducing fuel consumption, being more efficient or using technology creatively to solve a specific fleet problem. The judges will be looking for a well-run fleet where the fleet engineer is at the heart of the operation.

Fleet Truck of the Year*

A panel of more than 20 fleet buyers of trucks hear presentations about the shortlisted vehicles and decide which one wins the prestigious Fleet Truck of the Year Award. This Award takes into account not only all aspects of the vehicle, but also the support services from the manufacturer. You cannot enter this Award as the shortlist will be determined by the judges.

Fleet Van of the Year*

A panel made up of buyers of fleet vans decide which vehicle will win this award after listening to presentations from the shortlisted manufacturers. You cannot enter this Award as the shortlist is decided by the judges.

Haulier of the Year

This is the most coveted award in the industry. It is for the outstanding haulier or distribution company of the year. To win you need to show not only strong financial results, but also a tremendous all-round commitment to professionalism, customer care, safety, and training. The winner will also need to show the active measures the firm has taken to improve service levels and to grow the company, in both size and profitability. Entries must include three years’ audited accounts, evidence of high levels of customer satisfaction, and proof of innovation and outstanding success.

We are looking for a person or a team that has come up with a truly great idea and made it work. It could be a new way of working, or new design for a piece of equipment or a new technical solution to a industry problem. It has to be new, it has to be original and entries can be from transport companies or industry suppliers.
 

International Operator of the Year

Hauliers working the cross-channel route face tough competition from continental European operators. But it is possible to compete. The judges will be looking for operators who have been successful with their international operations. They will want to see evidence of financial success and growth in the business, and how you compete with overseas hauliers.

Livery of the Year

The judges will be looking for a stylish livery that promotes both the company and presents a good image of today’s industry to the public. They will want to see a clear, modern, uncluttered and stylish livery that could also be witty, amusing or putting over a message. The Award could be for either a truck or van livery. The judges need to know what you wanted to achieve with the livery and why you believe it deserves an award.

Low Carbon & Efficiency Award

We want to know what you have done to reduce your carbon footprint by running your fleet more efficiently. This could include cutting out empty running, re-routing vehicles, using double-deck trailers or any other measure. We also want to know how you have measured the reduction of your carbon footprint.

Network of the Year

This category is for excellence in national distribution networks including pallet networks, parcels, shared-user networks, alliances, home delivery and networks run by own-account operators. Whatever type of network, the judges will want to see evidence of a highly efficient operation that consistently delivers on-time with a high success rate. The winner will also need to show growth, innovation and increasing levels of customer satisfaction.

Partnerships

The judges will be looking for a partnership that has achieved together more than each of the partners could have done alone. It could be a partnership made up of haulage and distribution companies or a customer and a transport operator working to maximise their strengths. We want to see projects where working together is more than just the normal customer/supplier relationship. We want to know how you have worked together and how that has improved the service. As this is a partnership award, the entry form must be signed by both partners and, if you win, both partners will go on stage and each will receive a trophy.

Safety Award

The winner of this Award will show an exceptional commitment to all-round fleet safety. The judges want to see initiatives designed to reduce accidents and a commitment from management to keep safety issues at the forefront of the organisation, as well as evidence of a low, if not reducing, accident rate.

Service to the Industry Award

This is a special award for outstanding service to the industry. Please nominate anyone you believe deserves this award. Just send an e-mail to sharon.webb@rbi.co.uk, detailing the name of the person you wish to nominate, together with details of what they have achieved to deserve this highly-prestigious award. The winner could come from any part of the industry and the judges will be looking for someone who has not only been highly successful, but who has also actively served the industry.

Training Award

The judges want to know how you have improved the training of your staff in the last 12 to 18 months. Your entry could focus on a specific group, such as drivers or management, or could cover the entire range of training you provide. The judges would like to know how you identified the training need, how you implemented the training and a description of the benefits that have been achieved as a result. Companies of any size can enter the award as the judges will take into account the scale of your operation.
