Turners (Soham) and Mathhew Kibble Transport were the big winners last night (2 July) at the Motor Transport Awards. The well-known tanker specialist and the nine-year-old Lancashire haulier were named joint winners of Haulier of the Year at the Grosvenor House Hotel in front of more than 1,400 people.
Turners was a double winner, securing the Partnership Award with its client British Sugar.
Other double winners were: Indesit Company, which won the Customer Care Award and Network of the Year; TNT Express, which secured both the Environment and Training Awards; and 3663 First For Foodservice, which won the Innovation Award while its director of fleet, Graham Rennie, was named Fleet Engineer of the Year.
Suttons won the Safety Award, while Royal Mail collected the Best Use of Technology Award.
International Operator of the Year was Archbold Logistics’ Rapide division, while Livery of the Year was awarded to Boots.
Tesco collected the Low Carbon & Efficiency Award.
The Daf CF85 was named Fleet Truck of the Year, and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter was named Fleet Van of the Year. Dealer of the Year was Crossroads Truck & Bus.
The late Ken Irlam received the Service to the Industry Award; the award was collected by his son David Irlam.
